Few things feel worse than a Flying Horse cart not hitting right after you open it.
The good news is that most problems have simple causes.
A flat battery, cold oil or a hard pull explains most of them.
This guide walks through every common symptom.
For each one, you get the likely cause and a fix you can try today.
We also explain when to stop troubleshooting. At that point, contacting the store is faster than fighting the device.
Quick note: controls differ between models. Some fire with a button, while others are draw-activated.
Always keep the instruction card from your box.
Start Here: The Two-Minute Check
Before you dig into a specific symptom, run through this short list. It solves a surprising number of complaints.
- Charge the device fully with a USB-C cable before judging it.
- Remove any packaging sticker, cap or plug from the mouthpiece and airflow area.
- Use the preheat function if your model has one, especially in a cold room.
- Take a slow, gentle draw instead of a hard, fast pull.
- On a dual device, confirm which tank or mode is selected.
- Read the instruction card for your exact model and its controls.

Quick Table: Flying Horse Cart Not Hitting, Symptom by Symptom
Use this table to match what you see with the most likely cause. Then jump to the matching section below.
| Symptom | Likely cause | First fix to try |
|---|---|---|
| No vapor at all | Flat battery, blocked airflow, or wrong mode selected | Charge fully, clear the mouthpiece, check the selected tank |
| Weak, thin hits | Cold, thick oil or a draw that is too fast | Preheat, warm the device in your hand, draw slowly |
| Burnt or harsh taste | Chain-pulling, overheating, or a nearly empty tank | Rest the device between puffs; check tank level |
| Hard to pull, clogged feel | Oil thickened in the airway, often after cold storage | Warm gently, preheat, then take soft draws |
| Will not turn on | Deep battery drain or a dead unit | Charge with a known-good USB-C cable |
| Will not charge | Cable, power source, or debris in the port | Try another cable and outlet; check the port |
| Blinking or flashing light | Usually low battery or a draw that is too long or hard | Charge, shorten your draws, read your card |
| Oil at the mouthpiece or base | Heat, pressure changes, or storage on its side | Wipe clean, store upright; contact us if it leaks on arrival |
| One tank will not fire | Wrong mode, an empty tank, or a hardware fault | Switch modes per the card; check the tank level |
It Will Not Hit at All
A device that produces nothing usually has one of three issues.
Work through them in order, because the first is the most common.
The battery is flat
A brand-new device may not arrive fully charged. So a unit can seem dead when it simply needs power.
Plug it in with a USB-C cable and let it charge fully. Then try again with a gentle draw.
Models with a screen make this easy.
For example, the Black Edition 9G shows battery and tank levels on its display.
The airflow is blocked
Packaging often includes a sticker, plug or silicone cap.
If any of it stays on, air cannot move through the device.
Also check that your fingers are not covering an air intake while you draw.
That alone can stop a draw-activated sensor.
You are drawing the wrong way
Draw-activated devices fire when they sense airflow. Therefore, a very soft sip may not trigger them at all.
Button-fired devices work differently. For instance, the Stoner Blend 9G uses a firing button, so drawing alone does nothing.
Meanwhile, the Stoner Blend 3.8G and Black Edition 3.8G are listed as draw-activated.
Your card confirms the method for your model.
Weak, Thin or Burnt-Tasting Hits
Weak hits and burnt hits feel like opposite problems. However, they often come from the same habits.
Why hits feel weak
Thick oil moves slowly to the coil. As a result, each puff carries less vapor than you expect.
Cold rooms make this worse.
In addition, a fast, hard pull can outrun the coil before it has heated the oil.
Instead, try a slower, steadier draw of a few seconds. Then pause and let the device recover.
Why hits taste burnt
Chain-pulling is the usual culprit.
When you take puff after puff, the coil gets hot while the oil has no time to refill it.
That dry heat produces a harsh, scorched taste. So space out your puffs and give the wick a moment.
A burnt taste can also mean a tank is nearly empty.
On a screen model, check the tank level before blaming the coil.
If one puff tastes burnt, stop for a minute. Pushing through a dry coil can damage it for good.
A Clogged Device
A clog feels like sucking through a blocked straw. You pull, but little or no air moves.
What causes clogs
Hemp oil is thick by nature. When it cools inside the airway, it can partly seal the path air needs.
Hard pulls can also drag oil up into the mouthpiece channel. Then it sets there as the device cools.
How to clear it safely
- First, hold the device in your closed hand for a few minutes to warm it.
- Next, use the preheat function if your model offers one.
- Then take two or three very soft draws without firing hard.
- Finally, wipe any oil from the mouthpiece with a clean tissue.
Avoid poking pins or sharp tools into the airway. You can damage the coil or push the clog deeper.
Also avoid hair dryers, heaters or hot cars. Direct heat can cause leaks and harm the battery.
Cold Weather, Thick Oil and Preheat
Temperature affects every oil device. In winter, the same unit that hit well in summer can feel sluggish.
That happens because cold oil thickens. Consequently, it wicks slowly and the coil struggles to vaporize enough of it.
Preheat exists for this exact situation. It warms the oil gently before you take a real draw.
Several models list a preheat function.
These include the Stoner Blend 9G, the Stoner Blend 3.8G and the Mirage Edition 9G.
The way you start preheat varies by device. So follow the instruction card rather than guessing a button pattern.
If your device has no preheat, simply keep it in an inside pocket.
Body warmth usually loosens the oil within minutes.
Afterward, store it upright at room temperature. That habit prevents most winter complaints in the first place.
The Device Will Not Turn On
A device that shows no light, no screen and no response is usually out of power.
Start with a full charge.
Use a USB-C cable you know works with other gear. A frayed or charge-only cable can fail silently.
Give it real time on the charger before deciding it is dead.
A deeply drained battery can be slow to respond.
Still nothing after a proper charge? Then the unit may be faulty, and it is time to contact us.
The Device Will Not Charge
Charging trouble usually starts outside the device. So test the simple things first.
- Swap to a different USB-C cable.
- Try another wall adapter or computer port.
- Look into the port with a light for lint or oil.
- Make sure the plug seats fully and does not wiggle loose.
If the port has debris, a dry, soft brush can help. However, never use liquids or metal tools inside it.
Oil in the charging port is a different story.
That points to a leak, so stop charging and reach out to us.
A Blinking or Flashing Indicator
Flashing lights are the device trying to tell you something. Unfortunately, the exact meaning differs from model to model.
In general, blinking often signals a low battery. It can also mean your draw ran too long or too hard.
Some devices stop firing after a very long puff.
So a flash right after a big pull may be expected behavior.
Try charging first. Then take shorter, gentler draws and watch whether the blinking stops.
For anything else, check the instruction card in your box.
We will not guess at codes, because they vary by device.
Leaking Oil
A little oil at the mouthpiece can happen with any oil device. Steady leaking, however, is not normal.
Common causes
Heat thins the oil and builds pressure. For example, a device left in a hot car may seep afterward.
Lying flat for long periods can also let oil creep into the airway. Hard pulls make that worse.
What to do
Wipe the mouthpiece clean and stand the device upright for a while. Then try a few gentle draws.
If a device arrives leaking, do not keep using it. Instead, take a photo and contact us right away.
One Tank Will Not Fire on a Dual Model
Dual-tank devices hold two strains in one body. Most can fire one tank or both together, often called 3-in-1.
When only one side works, the cause is often the selected mode. It is not always a broken tank.
Check the selected mode first
Each model switches tanks differently. Some use a button, while others use a slider or a screen menu.
So reselect the tank using the method on your instruction card. Then test each mode one at a time.
Unsure which tank is which? Our guide on which side is sativa on a Flying Horse device explains the labeling.
Remember that the device or packaging labels each strain. We do not assume a fixed left or right side.
Check whether that tank is empty
Tanks rarely empty at the same rate. If you favor one strain, that side runs dry first.
Screen models help here. The Black Edition 9G shows tank levels, while the Mirage 9G has a digital display.
Each Mirage chamber also has its own ceramic coil. Therefore, one side can wear differently from the other.
Dual models in the current lineup
Dual or 3-in-1 formats include the Stoner Blend 9G, the Black Edition 9G and the Mirage Edition 9G.
Others include the Habibi Heat 9G, the Stoner Blend 5G and the Stoner Blend 3.8G.
Black Edition 3.8G and Dubai Gold 3.8G are dual-chamber too. Each one follows its own card.
Cartridges and the Power Split Kit
Not every Flying Horse product is a sealed disposable. Two formats need slightly different troubleshooting.
4 ml cartridges
The Stoner Blend 4 ml cartridge does not include a battery.
So it needs a compatible battery to work at all.
If a cart will not hit, first confirm the battery is charged.
Then check that the cart threads on snugly without overtightening.
You can browse current options in our Flying Horse cartridges category.
Power Split battery and pods
The Power Split 9G kit pairs a rechargeable battery with a replaceable 9 g pod. Pods are also sold separately.
If the kit will not fire, charge the battery and reseat the pod. A loose connection is a common cause.
For setup details, read our Power Split instructions.
Counterfeits Fail More Often
Sometimes the device is not the real product at all.
Fakes copy the packaging, but there is no way to know what hardware or oil is inside.
Counterfeit units tend to fail more often. Besides, nobody stands behind them when they do.
Be wary of sizes that are not in the brand catalog.
For example, we found no 10g, 12g or 20g Flying Horse vape.
The largest size in the brand catalog is 9 g. Anything bigger should be treated as unverified.
You can also match your flavor and batch to a lab report.
Our lab results page links to the brand reports.

When to Stop and Contact the Store
Troubleshooting has limits. At some point, a faulty unit is simply faulty.
A Flying Horse cart not hitting after a full charge, preheat and gentle draws may have a hardware fault.
Stop and contact us in these situations:
- The device is dead on arrival, even after a full charge.
- It leaks out of the box or leaks into the charging port.
- It gets unusually hot, swells, or smells like burning plastic.
- One tank never fires in any mode, even when it is full.
Reach us through our contact page. Include your order number, the product name and a short description.
A photo or short video helps us understand the problem faster. It also speeds up any replacement decision.
Our shipping and returns policy explains what qualifies and how the process works.
Never try to open, puncture or repair a battery device.
If it overheats, stop using it and keep it away from flammables.
How to Prevent Most Problems
Prevention takes less effort than repair. A few habits keep most devices hitting smoothly until the oil runs out.
- Charge fully before first use and top up before the battery dies completely.
- Store upright at room temperature, away from heat and direct sun.
- Use preheat in cold conditions when your model has it.
- Draw slowly and gently, then pause between puffs.
- Keep the mouthpiece clean and the airflow uncovered.

FAQ
Why is my new flying horse cart not hitting out of the box?
Most new devices need a full charge first. Also remove any sticker or cap blocking the mouthpiece.
Then check whether your model is button-fired or draw-activated.
Why does my device blink when I take a puff?
Blinking often means low battery or a draw that ran too long or hard.
Charge it, shorten your draws, and check your instruction card for model-specific meanings.
Can cold weather stop a disposable from hitting?
Yes. Cold oil thickens and wicks slowly, so hits get weak or stop.
Warm it in your hand and use preheat if your model has it.
Why does only one side of my dual device work?
Usually the wrong mode is selected, or that tank is empty.
Reselect the tank using your card, then check the tank level if your model shows it.
Why do my hits taste burnt?
Chain-pulling heats the coil before oil can refill it. A nearly empty tank can taste burnt too.
Pause between puffs and check the remaining oil.
Is it safe to use a hair dryer to unclog a device?
No. Direct heat can cause leaks and harm the battery.
Warm it gently in your hand instead, then take soft draws.
What should I do if my device arrives dead or leaking?
Stop using it, take a photo, and contact us with your order number.
Our shipping and returns page explains the next steps.
Do counterfeit devices fail more often?
Counterfeits tend to fail more often, and no one supports them.
